The past five years I had the tremendous opportunity to further my education and compete in cross country and track and field at the division one level for Charleston Southern University. In 2021, I received my BA in communication studies with a minor in political science from CSU. With an in-depth knowledge of the multimedia journalism landscape and a good grasp of design elements I plan on entering the workforce immediately.
About Me
In seventh grade (2010) I joined the cross country team at my middle school in East Haddam, Connecticut and have been running competitively ever since. I am so grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to travel the country and represent my school and my family through my running. In high school, I was a three-time VHSL state Champion with titles in cross country and track and field. Following my high school success I relocated to CSU a small private Christian university which offered me the opportunity to run at the NCAA division one level. While competing for CSU in the Big South Conference I won two individual titles, one in track and one in cross country and had the pleasure of competing at the NCAA cross country championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I have learned so much about myself and my own work ethic through the sport of distance running over the past 11 years. Learning how to work independently and being goal-oriented in my running career have helped .
Written Works
Writing has always been an integral part of my life. From journaling to blogs to sports articles, I have been fascinated by the power of words and the stories you can tell through them. Over the past year, I have been working with the sports information department at CSU helping write preview gameday articles, post-game articles, and feature stories on different athletes. However, sports articles are not all that I have written about while in college. I have countless research papers pertaining to the communications field along with several blog posts one of which will be published in this year’s school magazine.
Graphic Design
From sports graphics to movie posters to logos.
Following a decision to switch my major from kinesiology to communications three years ago, I started to build my knowledge of Adobe Cloud products and design. I have taken classes that have taught me the ins and outs of photoshop and illustrator and have dabbled in other programs such as premier. In 2021 while working for the CSU sports information office I put my photoshop skills to use by creating game day graphics for both the men’s and women’s golf teams. In addition to this, I also work on creating sports graphic templates in my free time for the university to use in the future.
